Where are you located? What are the times of your classes? What are the rates?
Our studio is located at 2303 Dunlavy Street, Houston, Texas 77006, 2 blocks north of Westheimer right in the heart of Montrose. The studio has ample on street parking and if you ride your bike there is a place to lock it up right outside the front door. We recently renovated and custom designed our studio space to allow for a much more spacious yoga experience. We are equipped with 2 bathrooms and changing rooms as well (just in case you have to rush to get here).
We have classes to accommodate all schedules including morning, lunch time, late evening, and weekend classes. Our classes are designed with experience levels in mind but if you have any questions about your ability level or see a time that works best for you please do not hesitate to ask about joining, we are here to accommodate you.
Rates vary according to class time length please see the classes tab for price listing.
What do I need to bring? Is there any etiquette I should know about?
Always come with an open heart and mind. You are the most important part of your practice. After that please bring water, if you forget or run out we provide water for $1 at the front desk. Also, bring a sticky mat. They can be purchased around the Houston area at sporting goods stores, department stores, and online. If you ever forget a mat, we have a supply of mats available for use at our studio.
Please try to arrive to class 15 minutes before the start time. If you are new this is especially important so you have time to fill out waivers and get acquainted with the space. When entering the yoga room please do so quietly and with respect to other students, if you need to leave class to use the facilities please do so in the same manner. If you need to leave class early please inform the teacher in advance and set up your mat close to the door to minimize the disruption of the class. Shoes are not to be worn inside the studio. We have cubbies in the reception area for your personal belongings. Cell phones, pagers, iPads, iPhones, PDAs are NOT allowed in the yoga room and must be on vibrate or off in the reception area. If you are a medical professional who needs to be near these devices they may be brought in on vibrate only.
Who is yoga for?
Absolutely everyone. Many people are timid about coming to a yoga class because they believe they aren’t flexible enough, strong enough, or relaxed enough. This is exactly why you start the practice to begin with! Yoga increases your flexibility, your strength, and brings inner peace and calmness to your heart, mind, body, and spirit.
I am injured/previously had surgery/pregnant, what do I do about a yoga practice?
Many of our students come to Pralaya Yoga Studio specifically to address injuries and joint and muscle limitations from previous surgeries or chronic physical misalignment. Our teachers are thoroughly trained in anatomy and physiology to help correct muscle imbalances and energetic misalignments that cause physical discomfort and energetic dissonance in your body. More practically speaking let your teacher know about any issues and concerns you have before class begins, every modification necessary will be made for you.
